Emily became obsessed with running shoes back in 2014 while searching for something—anything—better than what she was running in at the time. Then she stepped into the OG Hoka Clifton and went from a person who wore running shoes to a full-blown running shoe wacko pretty much overnight.

For years, she quietly obsessed over foam compounds, shoe geometry, and all the other nerdy details that normal people probably don't care about. In 2019, she finally got the guts to get on camera, and the Run Like Heller YouTube channel was born. She's been balancing life as a shoe reviewer and a full-time employee ever since.

By day—or, more accurately, by night, thanks to her 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. shift—Emily works as a news producer. Shooting and editing video translated pretty well from the newsroom to YouTube. Working in news also means she's no stranger to plans changing at the last minute, breaking news happening at the worst possible time, and trying to squeeze in a workout whenever she can. Basically, if there's a way to rearrange a training schedule around chaos, she's probably done it.

Emily and her wife also have a one-year-old son, who is her greatest joy, her favorite training partner, and easily her hardest workout yet.

Emily hopes to bring an everyday runner's perspective to the 9 to 5 Runners team. With a marathon PR of 3:57:07, she proudly sits in the middle of the pack alongside the runners who do this for the love of the sport...and, of course, the running shoe technology. She brings honest, thoughtful, and often unapologetically quirky reviews to the table, all from the perspective of a woman who loves running, loves shoes, and is still trying to figure out how to fit it all into this thing called life.
